What is Assessment?
One important element in career counseling is assessment. Assessment inventories consist of a battery of questions that are used to highlight your interests, attitudes, values and style.

The Process:

  1. An initial half-hour appointment is made to determine your career concerns and which assessment is appropriate. The remainder of the session includes instruction on completing the assessment instrument, establishing your preferred method of delivery and scheduling an hour-long session for interpretation and follow up.
  2. You will complete the assessment instrument online.
  3. Results will be sent to you shortly before your hour-long interpretation session.
  4. At that session, a counselor will review the results and answer your questions. Your session closes with your counselor helping you formulate the next steps in the career-planning process.
Career Counseling currently offers the following assessments:
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) indicates preferences for certain personal operating styles. MBTI helps you understand your own strengths and preferences, and what kind of work environment you might enjoy. Also available: MBTI Step II - Expanded Interpretive Report on implications for your style in the workplace.
Strong Interest Inventory (SII) provides information about your patterns of interest, and is linked to six career themes. SII measures your interest in a variety of vocational areas and helps focus your career-planning activities.

The Assessment Package:
Is an all-inclusive service that includes a half-hour session for intake, up to two instruments, and an hour-long interpretation session.
